I just got a call from Ellie’s Dad. She is now out of surgery, and according to her neurosurgeon, everything went well.
Evidently he had to remove a little more vertebra than expected to get to the right spot on her spine, but he said that won’t affect her recovery any. Otherwise, there were no other complications or any serious problems.
In about half an hour, one of them can go back and see her in the PACU (post anesthesia care unit – can’t just call them recovery rooms any more I guess!).
She should be pretty well out of it for a while, and sleep a lot this first 24 hours, which is a good deal I’m thinking.
